The San Saba Peak Game Ranch boasts a commanding presence in the Texas Hill Country. This rare and unique geographic feature rises 1,712 feet above sea level to a plateaued peak that is visible for miles in every direction. The Peak is a Texas Historic site named in 1732 by the Spanish Governor of Texas, Don Juan Antonio y Cevallos. The unique outcropped rock formations offer caves and Indian artifacts along with the tales of lost silver.
The San Saba Peak Game Ranch is dominated with a heavy cover of cedar, mesquite and live oak. Selective clearing has been done creating meadows for habitat improvement and hunting.
There are four strategically located hunting blinds and feeders dispersed across the ranch with room for several more. Hunting will be excellent with a variety of big game species present in breeding herds such as Whitetail Deer, Axis Deer, Red Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, Scimitar Horned Oryx, Aoudad and Iranian Red Sheep. In addition, there are Wild Turkey, Feral Hogs and a variety of varmints present on the ranch.
For wing shooting, a 40 +/- acre field is planted annually with a variety of forage and grains that provide feed for the wildlife and game birds. The field is a magnet for doves during the season and quail have been spotted as well.
The sloping and rolling topography provides runoff from rains that feed several small earthen dam stock tanks located throughout the ranch.
The native stone Ranch House with three bedrooms, two baths and a basement has recently undergone an extensive renovation. Rustic, traditional design with Saltillo Tile floors, granite counter tops, Alder cabinets and an inviting rock fireplace. The front porch offers scenic views across the field and the Colorado River Valley off in the distance to the Southwest. Out back, a flagstone patio with a built in gas grill sits under a canopy of Live Oaks with a spectacular view of San Saba Peak.
Hop in a Ranger and take a ride to the top of San Saba Peak and enjoy the incredible 40+ mile views of the Texas Hill Country. Relax by the fire pit with a cool drink and experience an incredible sunset!
